Our Process

Most replacement key fobs come with an unspoken question: where has this thing been?

We've opened thousands of them. We know the answer. And we built our entire process around making sure it doesn't matter.

Every Unit Gets Fully Disassembled

Shell, internal frame, button pad, circuit board — separated and processed individually. Not wiped down. Not visually inspected and repacked. Taken apart.

The problems that matter are never visible from the outside.

We Clean the Circuit Boards

Every board runs through an industrial-grade immersion cleaning process using professional automotive-grade chemistry at controlled temperature and cycle time. This step isn't cosmetic — it's decontamination. Pet hair, cigarette residue, moisture deposits, biological contamination. Eliminated before we evaluate anything.

Then we inspect. Boards that look fine sometimes aren't. Boards that look compromised sometimes get repaired and pass. If a board can't be brought to standard, it gets scrapped. It doesn't ship.

The Housing Gets the Same Standard

Every housing goes through multi-stage surface restoration. Scratches addressed. Button pads restored. Protective coating replaced where degraded.

Some units that arrive here are staged for disposal. Our process has recovered units that by any standard assessment should have been scrapped — finished product that outperforms anything else in the preowned category. We don't call it a miracle. We call it our standard.

We Clean Before QC — Not After

Every unit goes through full decontamination before quality control evaluation. Units that ultimately don't make the grade still received the full treatment first.

QC has to be honest. Cleaning first means our pass/fail decisions are based on what the unit actually is — not what it looks like under contamination.

By the time something ships from IKS, it has been:

  • Fully disassembled
  • Decontaminated at the component level
  • Inspected — electronically and physically
  • Restored to the highest achievable standard
  • Tested
  • Graded accurately

Our process is probably excessive. That's intentional. Nobody has ever complained that their key arrived too clean.

What You're Actually Buying

You're not buying a used key fob. You're buying one that has been through a restoration process most new aftermarket products never see.

The previous owner's pet hair isn't in there. The smoke residue isn't in there. The hidden moisture damage that causes failure six months later — we found it, fixed it, or scrapped the unit.

You don't inherit someone else's deferred maintenance.
